We always enjoy looking at Elle Magazine’s editorials. They show the latest spectrum on trends and we love the fact that they feature and support young local designers. We asked Tarryn Oppel, Fashion Editor at Elle, a few questions about her nine to five and, of course, her wardrobe.
– What excites you about styling a shoot?
The journey of discovering who you’re styling for. It’s amazing how clothing can represent a feeling or a persona – it’s more than just putting pieces together that work well, but rather keeping in mind the idea that with every styled look you can see someone different through those pieced together combinations.
– Best location?
My favourite location to date would be the Gondwana game reserve. It honestly felt like I was on a safari getaway not to mention that it was breathtakingly beautiful.
– Best model?
That’s a really tough question, because the best girl for the job would be used to portray the story. I have worked with way too many amazing girls to pick just one I’m afraid.
– Trends or Classics?
A combination. I must admit that I’m quite swayed by trends, but there’s no denying that a crisp white shirt or trench among many classics are great staples to have and incorporate into trendy wardrobes.
– Favorite Local Designer?
I am a huge fan of Celeste from Selfi’s ready-to-wear quality garments, Marianne Fassler’s ability to reinvent and Suzaan Heyns for her creativity and innovation.
– Best item in your closet?
That would have to be my printed tube dress from Tart – the colours are very bold and is perfect for when I feel like making a statement.
